What did you learn from using Twitter? I think twitter has its use. It came up roses when I sent out a plea for help on Maps testing. Had a good answer in less than an hour. I don't honestly think my personal tweets are generic enough to be of value to those who follow. If it isn't of value it becomes white noise.... another droning engine you could care less about on a busy highway... what is the point? Think about the content that you gained from those you followed as well as what you learned about Twitter itself. I'm not sure I gained a lot of content from Twitter. Yes the Peru 552 class was good, but nothing pertaining shop teachers really at all. I don't know... maybe I need to become the "shop teacher Twitter extraordinare" and get a following. Who was the most interesting person or persons that you followed? Why? I don't want to lie, so I wont. I get a huge kick out of Fake Bo Pelini.... I coach as well and some of the things he comes up with are just priceless for a football coach. I also like Jim Gaffigan..... Funny. So entertainment over edutainment summarizes how I use Twitter. Nothing wrong with a good laugh to put a good spin on a day. Do you think you’ll continue to use Twitter personally, professionally and/or both after this assignment is complete? I am not sure. Kind of going through a huge life changer and am just crushed for time. With more time maybe..... I do think I will check in for the laughs from the comedic tweets.
Just dinking around with Voicethread. Not quite sure its value, but here you go. http://voicethread.com/share/3529743/
Week 7 Blogpost I kind of like twitter....I found Edubib. It would be useful for writing papers for classes online. I don't know if my blog is a great resource for students. I can see parts of it, but seems very time consuming and reinventing the oral communication wheel. I see maybe 30 different kids daily. Seems kind of Rube Goldberg to say hey look at my blog vs. just tell them.

Playlists

An attempt to make playlists. One is a compilation of favorite Monte Python bits. The other more pertinent to education is a section on carburetors for small engines Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnnAfMHT5NrjKbP57cBX2BA?feature=guide

I just made an Animoto video of monopole motor construction in my electricity class.  I grade these things on a pass/fail basis and we had reached the last day of 5 for building these.  It was looking bleak then like magic, the bulbs flickered on and all the groups put it together in the nick of time.  More progress in one hour than the previous 4 combined.  Proud of this and proud of the boy's efforts.

If it weren't so out of place I think we all wanted to let out a guttural "Yalp! I made this!!!!!"  They settled for a stick of gum instead.

My name is Brad Catlin and I teach industrial arts at HTRS School in Richardson County Nebraska.  I went to the University of Nebraska Lincoln in the early nineties.  I've been away from teaching for nearly thirteen years. I used to be a technology coordinator, but have since lost my touch.  Been away too long.  I use PC's, but love any of the Mac products as they just seem to work.  In class I have some high powered machines to run auto cad.  I use a laptop in conjunction with a digital overhead projector.  I am an expert. (used it two days) I have Office 2010 installed on my personal laptop and am unsure what the school computers are set up for.

http://edudemic.com/2012/05/how-to-manage-a-classroom-of-ipads/  Is an article on using ipads in the classroom.  I had five of these with my new shop class.  They weren't used very extensively in the past and I would like to find use for them as the students have an interest.
